Catatonia are a band that hails from Wales. Their music is classified as pop and is extremely catchy and addictive. The band released their first EP in '93. It was called 'For Tinkerbell EP'and it received rave reviews including the NME single of the week.
The Band started when Cerys and Mark got together after Mark heard Cerys busk outside Debenhams, Cardiff. The band has made some changes since their first record. They used to have the drummer now in The Super Furry Animals. For the recording of Sweet Catatonia they had dropped Clancy Pegg (now in Crac) and Dafydd Leuan (now in SFA) but they picked up Aled and Owen. The band then released the single 'You've got a lot to answer for' and soon after they released their debut album 'Way beyond Blue' which had little chart success. Next came their album International Velvet. This was their most popular album which helped them break into the mainstream.
Their next album is out very soon. They have already released one single off it- 'Dead From The Waist Down' which is quite a change from their normal jangly sort of pop.
